Today in History: 26 January 1908: French jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli was born in Paris, France. He founded the first all-string jazz band Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. Known for swing, continental jazz, and gypsy jazz, he accumulated a long list of albums and international collaborations to his credit.
